No company can afford to leave its mission critical, IT equipment unprotected.  Utility power in the US is 99.9% reliable.  That sounds pretty dependable doesn’t it?  So why bother? Well, utility power isn’t clean and even the shortest of outages can damage equipment and processes while costing you untold dollars in lost production; not to mention damaging your reputation and costing you future business.

If you look closer at that 0.1% of utility unreliability, you’ll find that you are at more risk than you may realize.  24-hours/day x 365 days per year = 8,760 hours/year that your IT equipment is operating.  At 0.1% of unreliability, that’s almost 9 hours per year of potential downtime.  Yikes!  Do you still want to risk it?  If so, stop reading now and start updating your resume.

If you are still reading and like me probably haven’t updated your resume in 10+ years, you may have decided “I probably better buy a UPS, but where do I start?!” Well, I’m going to tell you.  First, determine what type of UPS is needed.  There are 3 main types of UPS’ on the market today;  Standby UPS, Line-interactive UPS and Double-conversion (Online) UPS.
